Mother of Three at CMJ PureVolume showcase, Friday 23 Oct

There is probably no better way for Mother of Three to end the year than with CMJ. Both shows we’re playing are going to be off the hook parties with open bar, and some of the best acts we’ve played with. PureVolume and L’asso Pizza are sponsoring five nights of mayhem at Collective Hardware, with open bar and artists hawking their wares, and Mother of Three is playing two of those nights: our live set one night, and our alter egos as house band for the Heart of Darkness comedy show the other night. (The brilliant poster above was made by none other than Mother of Three posterer and bassist, Dima Drjuchin.)

On Friday 23 Oct, we’ll be playing with fellow New York bands Lavalier and The Bowery Riots. It’s going to be a throwdown, and your last chance to see Mother of Three for the rest of 2009. Best of all, it’s free: you just have to sign up at http://PureVolume.com/house. I don’t know how many spots they have for people without CMJ passes, so I’d recommend signing up soon. Mother of Three is going to bring it, and Lavalier and The Bowery Riots are sure to put on great shows too.

On Saturday 24 Oct, Mother of Three is going to be backing Heart of Darkness, featuring comedy/performance luminaries Reggie Watts*, David Cope, and Dave Hill* (as well as Heart of Darkness founders Greg Barris and Mike O’ Rourke) [*NOTE: Reggie Watts and Dave Hill both canceled -- boo. Victor Varnado will be performing instead, as well as a mystery guest]. After the show, at which point your mind is sure to be blown, and you’ll have certainly thought that’s all the expansion of the mind you’ll be able to endure for the night, you will have to prepare yourself to stretch that mind-hole just a little wider and catch a screening of the brilliant Everything is Terrible movie. People have been posting YoutTube clips put up by the EIT crew all over the place, and now you can see their best work all at once.

If you miss these shows, we’ll be sad, but you will likely be sadder. Mother of Three will be returning to the public in Feb 2010, so don’t cry too hard, or at least not too long. So, sign up now!
