9PM Corrupt Autopilot

Wed 8 Sept @ Sidewalk Cafe: Yazan, Corrupt Autopilot, New Beard, Tincho Loro, Aerial East
Mother of Three is going to Los Angeles to support Greg Barris’s Heart of Darkness at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater, with special guests Janeane Garofalo, Marc Maron, and more. Then they’re back in NY for October in time for CMJ, with another Heart of Darkness (with Reggie Watts, Dave Hill, Kristen Schaal, and more).
Vending Machine is getting ready to drop another record of idiosyncratic Memphis pop in November. The artwork is done and the masters have been mastered and it looks and sounds great. Stay tuned for more info!
The Corrupt Autopilot LP “Greetings from Ghost Country” is now available for free download at http://corruptautopilot.com — pay as much as you want, even $0 if that’s what you think it’s worth.
Finally, Yazan has been in the studio recording a solo effort of acoustic songs inspired by the likes of RL Burnside, Skip James, Bob Dylan and Nick Drake. We’ll put some songs up soon, but if you want to hear it now, come out to the show on Wednesday!
The Corrupt Autopilot LP, Greetings from Ghost Country (SHT004), is out now at http://corruptautopilot.com! You can listen to the whole thing for free, and download the whole thing for as little as $5. Corrupt Autopilot is the music of Mother of Three bassist Dima Drjuchin, and Greetings from Ghost Country was brilliantly recorded and produced by Andrew Dunn and Ben Wigler, the brains and beards behind New Beard. The record is a circus of sound, featuring performances from: Yazan and Jonas from Mother of Three, Nik Dryuchin (AudioAmor), Eric Stephenson, Tony Waldman, Ben and Andrew from New Beard, Greg Barris (Heart of Darkness), Gian Carlo Feleppa (Mink Lungs, Emergency Party), Aerial East, and Leah Hayes. What a party!
Speaking of parties: on Saturday 10 July, Corrupt Autopilot will be playing their first show as a band, with Dima leading some of the above characters through a set of songs. Not only is it a birthday party (Dima turns 30!), and a record release party, but it’s also a benefit show for tattoo artist and friend Matty No Times. Matty had to get a new liver, but had no health insurance and is now paying for it, so we’re all helping out. Come on out, click the poster below for more info:

Listen to “I Know, I Know”, a track from Greetings from Ghost Country:
First off, thanks to everyone who came out to our acoustic show last week at Sidewalk. What a night! We’ll be putting up some videos of our sets, and we’ll be doing it again soon. Thanks to The Telephones and New Beard for joining us, too!
Mother of Three is playing a last minute FREE SHOW with our pals Black Taxi at Rockwood Music Hall’s new Stage 2. It’s this coming Thursday at around 830PM. It is seriously rare that you’ll get to see such awesome performers for free — come out and make some noise with us. Click the poster below for more info:
Mother of Three, Thurs 24 June 2010, Free show with Black Taxi
Later this week, Mother of Three is playing the most exciting Heart of Darkness yet! Greg Barris is bringing Janeane Garofalo, Dave Hill, Craig Baldo, and some super special guests to this upcoming show — not to be missed. For more info, click the poster:

Finally, here’s a clip of Mother of Three playing the Van Morrison classic, “Gloria”. Enjoy!
On Thurs 17 June, Yazan and Dima (Mother of Three) are joined by friends Jesse Adelman (The Telephones), New Beard, and Greg Barris (Heart of Darkness, Wigmaker’s Son) for a night of acoustic songs at Sidewalk Cafe, home of the anti-folk scene. Not exactly our scene, but it’s a good room with great sound, and there’s no cover and reasonably priced booze. These aren’t gonna be your average strummy, yawn-y acoustic tunes — it’s gonna be a raucous night.
Dima will be playing as Corrupt Autopilot, debuting some songs from his upcoming LP Greetings from Ghost Country, while Yazan will be playing songs from his upcoming solo LP as well.
Thanks to everyone that came out to see Mother of Three at Bowery Electric last week, it was nuts thanks to you all! Our pals Lavalier debuted their six-member choir, fully doubling their band size and all the while nailing the Beach Boys/Danny Elfman thing even harder. AudioAmor played their first show and rocked it, as did new friends New Beard (brought to you by some former band members of the recently disbanded Arizona). All in all, we are proud of everybody, including you and us.
Dima and Yazan also have been doing some acoustic performances around NYC, with a big acoustic show in June to be announced soon.
Finally, we’re selling hand assembled, silk-screened and painted copies of Mother of Three’s MO3 EP at http://music.motherofthree.info/album/mo3-ep. These are very limited, with less than 100 left. They’re individually numbered mini-pieces of art, so get one before we jack the prices way up.
Mother of Three Wed 21 Apr w/ Lavalier, New Beard, Analog Among Us
Mother of Three is playing their first proper show of the New Year (which isn’t so new anymore). They’ll be playing at least a couple new tunes, selling the same old t-shirts, shaking the same old tambourines. Come on out!
In other news, check out these awesome videos from Vending Machine’s performance at WEVL. You owe it to yourself to watch em all:
Actually it’s been that way for a few months now, but we’ve been too busy/isolated for updates. “What happened?” you ask. Let’s see:
Yazan was on a vision quest, cultivating thoughts and songs in the Californian desert. He’s back in New York now, and Mother of Three is gearing up for a few upcoming shows (more on that in a minute).
Dima has also been writing his songs, but getting ready for his big solo art show at Gallery AD in San Jose, CA. It opens at the beginning of April, so if you’re in the area, you should check it out and even maybe buy a supremely wise investment of a painting.
Jonas just got back from Hawaii!
Next show is going to be on Mar 30 at Comix in NY backing some of the Heart of Darkness crew: comedians Greg Barris and Yannis Pappas are headlining the show, along with NYC favorites Roger Hailes and the legendary Mike O’Rourke. Mother of Three will be warming the crowd up, as well as supporting the comedians and making sure the good jokes are even funnier and the bad jokes don’t crash silently. For more info, click: here.
Finally, Mother of Three will be playing a full on rock show with some friends: we’ll be playing at Bowery Electric in NY on April 21 with Research + Development, New Beard, and Lavalier. More info on that show soon!
Mother of Three at CMJ PureVolume showcase, Friday 23 Oct
There is probably no better way for Mother of Three to end the year than with CMJ. Both shows we’re playing are going to be off the hook parties with open bar, and some of the best acts we’ve played with. PureVolume and L’asso Pizza are sponsoring five nights of mayhem at Collective Hardware, with open bar and artists hawking their wares, and Mother of Three is playing two of those nights: our live set one night, and our alter egos as house band for the Heart of Darkness comedy show the other night. (The brilliant poster above was made by none other than Mother of Three posterer and bassist, Dima Drjuchin.)
On Friday 23 Oct, we’ll be playing with fellow New York bands Lavalier and The Bowery Riots. It’s going to be a throwdown, and your last chance to see Mother of Three for the rest of 2009. Best of all, it’s free: you just have to sign up at http://PureVolume.com/house. I don’t know how many spots they have for people without CMJ passes, so I’d recommend signing up soon. Mother of Three is going to bring it, and Lavalier and The Bowery Riots are sure to put on great shows too.
On Saturday 24 Oct, Mother of Three is going to be backing Heart of Darkness, featuring comedy/performance luminaries Reggie Watts*, David Cope, and Dave Hill* (as well as Heart of Darkness founders Greg Barris and Mike O’ Rourke) [*NOTE: Reggie Watts and Dave Hill both canceled -- boo. Victor Varnado will be performing instead, as well as a mystery guest]. After the show, at which point your mind is sure to be blown, and you’ll have certainly thought that’s all the expansion of the mind you’ll be able to endure for the night, you will have to prepare yourself to stretch that mind-hole just a little wider and catch a screening of the brilliant Everything is Terrible movie. People have been posting YoutTube clips put up by the EIT crew all over the place, and now you can see their best work all at once.
If you miss these shows, we’ll be sad, but you will likely be sadder. Mother of Three will be returning to the public in Feb 2010, so don’t cry too hard, or at least not too long. So, sign up now!
1. Next show is Thurs 1 Oct at Lit Lounge in New York. Full details here. It’s another birthday show — this time Yazan turns 30 and Jonas turns 29, and no higher authority is going to stop us this time. It’s our first show since Feb (our July show was canceled), and will be among our last for the year, so come on out!
Mother of Three, Thurs 1 Oct, 10:30PM, Lit Lounge, NYC
2. Mother of Three has started releasing select cuts from their massive library of rehearsal recordings. These recordings are almost completely improvised, and recorded live in a single room with a single stereo mic. It’s raw and unfinished stuff, mostly instrumental, but the choice bits we’re making available are just too nasty not to be heard.
3. Mother of Three is part of the Pure Volume CMJ Showcase at Collective Hardware. We’ll be playing a set (with awesome bands Lavalier and Bowery Riots) on Fri 23 Oct at Collective Hardware, and then we’ll be the backing band for the CMJ edition of the Heart of Darkness comedy show, featuring Reggie Watts,Dave Hill, David Cope, and of course Mike O’ Rourke and Greg Barris. Check out Dima’s sweet poster:
Mother of Three, Lavalier, Bowery Riots at CMJ 2009 Pure Volume Showcase
4. We’re working on booking a Brooklyn show for some time in Oct as well, so keep your eyes peeled, suburbanites!
Well I’m sure those of you that came out on Friday night know by now that our July 10 show at Pianos was, unfortunately, canceled. Due to circumstances beyond our control, not all band members were able to be at the venue come showtime. We are super bummed that we had to cancel, but Dima still claims to have had the best birthday of his life, so thanks to those of you that came out and hung out in support of MO3 and Dima. If you want the full story, get off the internet and talk to a band member.
We’ll be booking some shows for late July and September and October, and we promise we’ll make it up to you all. If anyone didn’t get a refund, please email us (info at shoulder tap dot com) or leave a note here and we will make sure everything is squared. Our most sincere apologies for the disappointment and confusion. Our next show will be even bigger and badder, guaranteed. Thanks again for your unconditional support.
