Photos from Mother of Three at Kenny’s Castaways on Nov 29 are up, taken by Nikolai Drjuchin. You can find them on flickr.com. Their EP is being mastered, and should be out by early Jan. In the meantime, Mother of Three will be performing again at the Christmas edition of Greg Barris‘s Heart of Darkness comedy show, this time as The Missle Toes. Don’t worry, the show will be funnier than that name.

Mother of Three: I smell an EP
Sunday, November 16th, 2008Mother of Three is just about done tracking and mixing songs for their upcoming four song EP. Jeremy Scott at The Civil Defense Studio in Brooklyn, NY (Vivian Girls, Taigaa!, These are Powers) has done a superb job engineering and co-producing the tracks, and we’re all very excited to put it out.
Some news about how it will be released: this release will be available as a CD (which will be available through the Shoulder Tap site) and as a digital download (which will be available at most all your favorite online retailers). However, the LP that Mother of Three is planning for release in the spring will only be available as a digital download and as a vinyl release.
We’ve thought a lot about how people get their music, and while lots of music fans still like to hold something tangible in their hands, we think that the CD is a medium that is on its way out (we personally don’t even drink enough beverages to use all our useless CDs as coasters around here). So what we’re going to do is offer a free digital download with a vinyl purchase. That way, people can buy the record (which will have nice large beautiful artwork that can be framed), if if they don’t have a record player, they can still download the songs and listen. We’re pretty excited about being one of the leaders in the music distribution revolution. We’ll have details soon.
In the meantime, Mother of Three’s upcoming EP will be put out on handmade, hand-packaged CDs (and the art will still be awesome). Keep your ears peeled.
Mother of Three: a little sample
Thursday, November 13th, 2008Mother of Three are in the studio hard working on their upcoming EP. Here is a bit of a jam that they laid down in prep for their poorly capitalized tune “On and oFF”. Who cares if it’s sloppy, it sounds like Prince’s pinkynail playing guitar for Gang of Four.
Pics from the studio
Monday, October 20th, 2008Mother of Three went into A Civil Defense recording studio this weekend to lay down tracks for their upcoming EP with Jeremy Scott behind the boards. You can see some pictures on Flickr. They put down basic tracks for four songs, and it sounds like Rick Springfield Huey Lewis going swimming with Roger Waters, with Andy Gill sitting in the lifeguard chair.
Studio Time
Wednesday, October 15th, 2008Mother of Three is going into the The Civil Defense studio this weekend to begin recording a 3 or 4 song EP. Dima also created a badass poster for us.
Thanks!
Thursday, October 2nd, 2008Thanks to everyone that came out on Monday, and thanks to Zambri for rocking hard and warming up the crowd for real. Some pics of the show are here, thanks to Vlad Drj. We’ll put some videos and sounds up soon too. Mother of Three is going into the studio to record a few songs later in October. Also, we made some t-shirts, but we forgot to announce their sale at the show! They’ll be for sale on the Shoulder Tap site soon.
Mother of Three @ The Annex, 9.29.2008
Thursday, September 18th, 2008Shoulder Tap artist Mother of Three plays at The Annex in New York, Monday 29 September, 10PM. It’s going to be a big show — it’s Yazan’s birthday (and Jonas’s a few days later), and friends Zambri are performing too (9PM). Mother of Three are working on recordings for an LP to be released some time in 2009. Come out and celebrate the band members living longer than Jimi Hendrix!
